40 ICT ideas in 40 minutes presentation

40 ICT ideas in 40 minutes was first presented at the national Maths and Computing conference in Harrogate, June 2008.

All of these ideas have been based on ideas and suggestions gathered from the EffectiveICT.co.uk forum together with additional ideas from contacts on Twitter and other useful blogs and ideas. Continuing this spirit, all of these materials are usable by anyone as long as it isn't for commercial gain.

    Neale-Wade

At Neale-Wade we had a number of twilight training sessions planned. There were a number of groups established and one of these was the ICTAC (ICT across the curriculum) group. I led the group but was very keen not just to setup some standard training session where I stood at the front and shared a few geeky ideas to the rest of the staff.

What we needed was a way to get everyone involved. I thus proposed we ran a session where each member of staff would spend a short time sharing how they had used ICT in the classroom. I gather together ideas from the EffectiveICT.co.uk forum and established a list of 70 potential ICT uses. These ideas all emerged from the forum discussion.

Members of the ICTAC group then selected one idea that they would like - most colleagues took an idea from the list, but they were free to come up with their own as well. This led to our extremely successful 20 ICT ideas in 20 minutes. You can download the booklet from this site.

The major benefit to the original training session was that we were able to engage all staff both in training and, most essentially, in confidence. They could see their colleagues, not the usual 'computer geeks', sharing and delivering their uses of ICT across the curriculum. For me, this was the major success.
