Produce a report providing suggestions for ISPs, Hostings, Domains and Software
You are working for 'FenWeb' the local design agency asked to implement a website. The problem is that they don't know enough about 'Web Architecture'. Produce a report that explains about the following concepts:
ISPs
Web hosting providers
Domain names
Web design software
Pass LO:
Outline the web architecture and components which enable internet and web functionality
Expected:
You need to secure a Pass for this challenge. Refer to your e-mail for the specific challenge. You should aim to submit a professional, formal document with at least six pages.
Explain the user side and server side factors that influence the performance of a website
Explain the security risks and protection mechanisms involved in website performance
Compare and contrast current interactive websites for performance and security
Discuss the impact that cases of website security breaches have had on society
Expected:
You need to aim for a Distinction for this work. It should be a professional and high quality PowerPoint presentation with at least 10 slides together with accompanying notes in Word that provide the real detail. Best practice would be to have a PowerPoint with the key points and then your explanation in the accompanying Word document.
PowerPoint: min 10 slides; Word document: min 6 pages
Task: You need to develop a portfolio of evidence that shows you can design an interactive website. Initially you will collate your evidence and then you will build a website for FebWeb. More details will appear here.
Merit LO:
Using appropriate design tools, design an interactive website to meet a client need
Produce annotated design documentation for an interactive website to meet a client need
Expected: Initially you need to submit your evidence that shows you have achieved 12 badges in the Mozilla Webmaker challenge. Try to submit a .pdf document
Task: LO4 is where you create your actual website for the FenWeb client. They have provided the details above and you need to implement your website using the range of skills that you've developed through the unit.
The website you produce needs to meet the minimum requirements as shown above however, also look to include additional features - CSS tricks and features (from your Thimble work), stylish creation ideas, embedded Twitter feeds and anything else that will add value.
However, remember the best websites are subtle, professional and high quality. Don't over-burden the site with flashing rubbii
Distinction LO:
Create an interactive website to meet a client need
Implement CSS in an interactive website to improve the site to meet a client’s needs
Carry out acceptance testing with client on an interactive website
Expected: You are going to submit a range of documents for LO4 - including your actual website, documentation to support your website and your explanation of your code.
For now you need to submit your LO4 tracking sheet - a Distinction level response will be at least three pages.
Completion - produce evidence that all criteria have been met
Challenge: Demonstrate that you have met every single criteria to achieve a Distinction
All the requirements for each grade are in the yellow info box below. You need to demonstrate that you've met each requirement.
You may need to revisit earlier tasks to complete
Make sure you have sufficient evidence for each grade level - missing work means a fail
Spend time improving and developing
Use the grade criteria below to make use of every piece of work you've done for the webdesign
