About Me
A brief bit about me ... hmm where to start.
Well I am currently in my first year of university studying Computer Science at the University of Sheffield. The course is very good, and definatly something I would recommend for future students looking into the possibility of a career in the Computing Industry. I have always been interested in technology and computers for many years, but while studying at Neale-Wade Community College, I became basically addicted to computers and that was how I chose my path through education. At GCSE I was lucky enough to be taught ICT by Andrew Field, and he helped me become more creative and push to produce work that was to the best of my ability. I then moved onto Long Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge and studied Computing, Media Studies, Maths, ICT (AS), Further Maths (AS) and this was where I was taught programming as a dedicated subject. This lead to me choosing my degree and the University of Sheffield. As of leaving Long Road, my relevant qualifications are: Computing A2 - A*, ICT AS - B, ICT OCR National Level 2 First Award - Distinction x 2.
I also work for the mobile phone network O2, and I am based in Lion Yard, Cambridge. This mainly involves selling mobile phones, but I have filled in for the O2 Guru Role (Technical Support) since January 2010, and my colleagues now frequently pass me technical queries from customers, for whom many I manage to sort out. I have been at the Lion Yard based store since November 2008, and manage to fit it around my university work with a unique agreement with my manager.
Outside of education and work I mainly persue technology much more, whether that be maintaining my own personal website, expanding my programming knowledge or just keeping up with the latest and greatest tech.
Specialities:
- Programming - I am currently learning Java, and have achieved over 90% in all of my assignments so far. I also have good knowledge of the Pascal/Delphi programming language of which I learned at A-level. For web based projects I am able to program in HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL.
- Mobile Devices - I am familiar with a variety of mobile devices, including tablets and mobile phones, and I specialise knowledge in the 2 main operating systems of Android and iOS. I haven't programmed apps for these devices, but I hope to start writing android apps in the very near future.
Feel free to ask me any questions about anything I have put here
