Knowing that I'm still VERY new to this, when is Moodle supposed to be out.
I know about backing up my work (in the sense, that I follow recommended directioons), but is there anything 'extra' that I can do, to 'backup' my work- for this upgrade?
ThanX! :0)

Moodle 2.0 won't be "out" for everyone safely to use until the summer at the earliest - maybe even going into Autumn. The official date is July and they want to have it ready for school starting in the northern hemisphere in September. BUT..don't hold your breath. Also - don't think about Moodle 2 or upgrading yet because I reckon you should give it a few months for all bugs to be ironed out by everyone else who's using it first
So - unless it is really successful and everything works fine instantly (in which case I will post back) I would advise you to leave thinking about it until Christmas -and get your head around Moodle 1.9 in the meantime!

As recommended by @MoodleFairy this is the Moodle 2 test site: http://qa.moodle.net/
I was also able to test my SCORM version of Penalty Shootout - with a few odd messages, it was still possible to play the game and great to see that the score was tracked:
